Off-the-record

Only the powerless have a moral right to anonymity. In general, the practice of quoting as “anonymous sources” officials, diplomats, and other State representatives is so profoundly anti-democratic it should be banned. Imagine a world where no government official could speak off-the-record. Where everyone had to be responsible for what he or she said. States depend in their actions on the complicity of journalists who quote anonymously.

The Atrocity Museum is somewhat open to submissions, at least from those who understand the nature of the everyday tedium.
